If you happen to have shown a bit of an interest in weight loss and/or health and fitness over the years, there’s a good chance that you will have heard about, or read about, HCG diets. HCG diets are very popular at the moment as more and more people are discovering just how effective they really are. HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, as it is known, is a hormone produced naturally in the body. In particular, it is found in the pregnant women in high dosages. It enables the body to utilize fewer calories for energy, to burn fat, and to suppress appetite which is why it is so popular in weight loss circles. If you find yourself considering a HCG diet however, there are things you need to know. Here’s a look at a few do’s and don’ts for HCG diets.
Do make sure you do your research
If you want to follow a HCG diet you need to make sure that you do your research first. HCG can be injected, or it can be administered orally in liquid droplet form. You need to know the differences and you need to know the different phases of the HCG diet. The diet isn’t just a quick fix, there are 3 phases and they must all be adhered to and followed properly. The more you know about the diet before you begin, the better you will get on.
Don’t do the diet if you can’t tolerate hunger
More often than not, when you are looking to lose weight you will need to get used to the fact that you will feel hungry. However, for some people, hunger is tougher to deal with than with others. The HCG diet is a very low-calorie diet, as you will typically consume between 500 and 700 calories when most of the weight comes off. If you are unable to function on low calories a HCG diet may not be for you.
Do prep in advance
If you are following the diet it’s important to prep and prepare yourself in advance. Don’t follow the diet before you have purchased all of your healthy ingredients and any accessories that you may need. On the diet you will feel hungry, and even though you won’t be as tired as you would without the HCG, you certainly won’t be full of beans, as it were. The more preparation you can do in advance, the easier the diet will be.
Do make sure you follow all phases correctly
There are 3 phases to this diet, and if you want to succeed you need to make sure that you follow all three of them correctly. Phase 1 is the most popular as this emphasises a high caloric intake. Phase 2 is the hardest as this is the super-low calorie phase. Phase 3 is a transition phase. Don’t mix and match, don’t try to put your own spin on things, and don’t follow the diet if you can’t adhere to all of the three phases.
